For example when they got a massive backlash from cancelling the 3K DLC and the game managements response was that it was bad to tell us in advance about DLC, not that it was bad to cancel announced content. Even Rich's video came out as a response to community backlash on lack of any news.īased on what has been said by former community managers such as Grace it is problem with higher management at CA who does not only try micro manage communications with the player base but also has learnt the wrong lessons from the negative response to certain actions. There is zero attempt to proactively talk to the community. That same info however is not given to the players for even the content coming out next month. So clearly these teams have to be given an idea of what content needs to be delivered by when. The DLC team is big enough - from previous AMAs we know they have 11 artists and 6 sound designers alone. Even a bit of negative feedback must hurt them somehow. I think whoever is in charge of this is just plain scared of talking freely with the community. So, assuming we ever get one, have you seen any good formats you'd like to see the CA team use to summarise/communicate? (ignoring that I think Tours and Tournaments is a terrible DLC for me personally.) A combination of "This is what we're looking to work on through patches" and "this is a rough plan of what we're working on, obviously subject to changes". Personally, I'd love to see a combination of these approaches for TWW3. And never once does it make me less interested when they have a new trailer or announcement. Obviously, for the most part, the dev diaries from various Paradox teams are supported by regular communications, updates and diaries detailing their progress on these. Full disclosure, I'd like CA to be more open with expectations and plans for upcoming releases and what they're looking to tackle, so these approaches hugely appeal to me, but I'm aware they may not be for everyone. I know this is a well worn subject and there's a variety of feelings and preferences around the matter, but I recently encountered how some other titles are doing this and wanted to see how people feel about these approaches. 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.848 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
